For over 20 years, Solidarcité has brought together eight charities, which are all committed to offering young people a brighter future through support programs focused on civic engagement, respect for others, and collective work.
Their goal? Help young people aged 16 to 25 who are struggling in school, feeling lost, or simply seeking a transformative experience to reflect on their lives and on today’s social challenges.
The Civic Year is an innovative and inclusive program that unites young people through hands-on community work/around concrete actions. It not only encourages them to get involved in society but also helps build a more inclusive and cohesive future. By supporting this project, you will be a key player in shaping the future of our Belgian society.
Why do we need your support?
We need your help to provide the construction materials and handyman tools necessary for young people to carry out their activities. Whether it’s renovating community spaces, improving public areas, or supporting vulnerable people, these young participants need adequate equipment to ensure high-quality and safe work.
Your financial support will enable these young people to accomplish tasks In a professional manner, gain confidence, and develop valuable skills for their future.
The amount to finance: 32.000€/3 years
The Civic Year: a springboard to living together
The Civic Year program lasts between 6 and 9 months and is built around three main pillars:
- Civic Engagement through volunteering and collective actions: renovating spaces, distributing hot meals, restoring public areas, and much more.
- Awareness-raising on key social issues such as democracy, sustainable development, respect for diversity, and active citizenship and training to learn useful skills (introduction to first aid, introduction to manual work, introduction to animation techniques).
- Personal development -time to help young people take a step back, reflect on their values and life choices, and find their place in society.
