Located in Herentals, in the Antwerp region, the t’Werk chocolate factory was founded with a powerful mission: provide a supportive and empowering work environment for people with autism.
Today, t’Werk provides specialised training, guidance, and employment opportunities to 35 young individuals with autism, who are supported by a dedicated team of 8 occupational therapists, educators, and coordinators. Each year, they produce around 200,000 pieces of fair-trade premium chocolate — amounting to an impressive total of 18 tonnes.
Thanks to the success of their initiative, t’Werk is eager to grow and expand their impact. To achieve this, they need additional funding to purchase new equipment and hire more specialised supervisors, to ensure that they can continue offering meaningful work experiences to a wider range of people.
High-quality equipment and comprehensive support to achieve a real change
While individuals with autism are often confined to repetitive and monotonous tasks in traditional settings, t’Werk takes a different approach. Their employees have the chance to develop a variety of skills by switching activities every two hours, empowering them to learn, adapt, and thrive in a supportive environment.
To support this growth, t’Werk requires a new chocolate tempering machine, which will enable them to offer hands-on training to a larger number of people. Additionally, they are looking to recruit a dedicated therapist to provide personalised support and supervision for new hires.
That’s why your support is crucial — to help finance this inspiring project and contribute to the sustainable growth of a chocolate factory that is changing lives.
