THE ASBL Famille J. Bernaert located in Lobbes, Hainaut, takes in foster children to raise them, educate them and prepare them for adulthood.
Thanks to the support of UFB, the ASBL was able to install a wooden play structure in the outdoor garden.
This equipment provides children with a fun outdoor play area.
A home where every child finds his or her place
Created in 1975, the ASBL Famille J. Bernaert aims to support the development of children who have been placed in care.
With values focused on responsible parenting, maintaining family ties and sponsorship, the‘accompaniment aims to involve parents in their child’s education, despite the distance.
Their involvement in key decisions ensures beneficial educational continuity.
When return to the family is limited, the ASBL ensures the child’s emotional stability by putting him or her in touch with sponsoring families.
This relationship provides the child with a reassuring reference point to help his or her development.
A team of 14 workers takes care of the fifteen or so children housed in the home.
An outdoor play area
THE ASBL J. Bernaert Family had a garden, but no play equipment for the children. Play and exercise are essential to their development.
The association wanted to develop this area by installing a wooden structure with a slide and a safe surface made of foam tiles.
“As soon as the play gantry was installed, the children rushed to it and started playing together, taking full advantage of the infrastructure, even forgetting about the screens or the TV.” ASBL manager.
This funding of 6,000 euros has made it possible to offer children an open-air play area and ensure their safety using appropriate materials.
This space allows them to stimulate their motor skills and also encourages them to bond with each other.
