Solar panels for refugee welcome center in Aarschot

Founded in 2018, Bij Ons Thuis has become a haven of comfort and human warmth for refugees from all over the world. This shelter in Aarschot is now home to 25 refugees, offering them not only a roof over their heads, but also a community where they can feel safe, supported and valued.

It consists of two houses, carefully designed to create a welcoming environment for the residents.

Solar panels: a necessity to ensure the long-term future of the organization

Recognising the importance of sustainability and long-term viability, we proudly contributed to their solar panel project for one of these houses.

Thanks to your generous contributions, this environmentally friendly initiative will not only reduce the high energy costs but also ensure the long-term running of Bij Ons Thuis, enabling the organisation to continue its vital work for many years to come.

Comprehensive support to facilitate social integration

At the heart of Bij Ons Thuis there is a dedicated team of 120 volunteers, each determined to make a positive difference in the lives of residents. These volunteers offer a wide range of essential services, such as ‘buddy work’, an initiative aimed at helping refugees with the administrative and general formalities required to integrate more easily into life in Belgium. They also provide legal advice, driving lessons and leisure activities. Their unwavering support ensures that every refugee receives the care and assistance needed to build their lives.

Solidarity takes it all!

Bij Ons Thuis embodies the true spirit of community and solidarity, demonstrating the profound impact of kindness and generosity. Thanks to the continuing efforts of its volunteers and the support of its donors, this refuge has become a beacon of hope, offering refugees the stability and warmth they need to thrive.

You too can be part of this solidarity spirit and make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable people.
