At the heart of Wervik, a small charity called Love in Action is bringing joy and hope to children from vulnerable backgrounds. Led by Karin Charlet and her passionate team, the organisation offers more than just fun activities — they offer children the chance to experience the simple pleasures of childhood.
Through play, crafts, and spending time together, children at Love in Action find a safe and welcoming space where they can forget their worries, even if just for a while. The charity also ensures that each child receives snacks and drinks during their time at the centre, and for those in need, food baskets as well as clothing are also provided to the entire family.
In addition to these day-to-day activities, Love in Action organises camps and holidays. These moments become the highlight of the year for many children, allowing them to escape/stay away from the challenges they face at home and create happy memories with their peers.
Beyond fun and games, the charity also offers administrative support and, most importantly, a listening ear to children and families. Their mission is simple but powerful: ensure that every child feels loved, understood and valued, regardless of their family situation or social background.
Building life skills through sports
Children from disadvantaged families often miss out on the love, attention, and structure they need to thrive. Many of them face complex challenges that force them to grow up too fast. To help overcome this, Love in Action is launching a new initiative: sports activities for the 60 children currently in their care.
Sports offer more than just physical benefits. They teach children essential values in life —strength, resilience, teamwork, fair play, and discipline. By participating in these activities, children will gain the tools to build self-confidence and better face life’s challenges.
- The amount to finance: 30.000€/over 3 years
